Scope and Contents
Photographs documenting the Sky Club owned and operated by Gus Adler (1879-1952) and Emma Adler (1904-1987) in Asheville from the 1930s to the 1950s. The images show the club, staff, and patrons, including actor Robert Mitchum, who filmed part of the movie “Thunder Road” at the Sky Club. Other photos are of the Adlers and their friends and family. Also included are biographical recollections by John Charles Hunter, son of Emma Adler, and photocopies of clippings and documents about the Sky Club.
