Biographical Note

Dr. Dwight Mullen taught Political Science at UNC Asheville from 1984 until his retirement in 2018. In addition to leading efforts to desegregate UNC Asheville’s faculty in the 1980s, developing the African-American Colloquium for incoming UNC Asheville students, and developing the popular State of Black Asheville project and classes, Dr. Mullen was extremely active in the Asheville community. The materials in the Dwight Mullen Personal Papers help document some of his community activities and awards.
