In this video Bill Hart describes highlights from the ninth bookshelf in his personal library, where he discusses Appalachian fiction, literature, and literary criticism.
Hart discusses books by Shepherd Dugger, Mary Noailles Murfree, DuBose Heyward, local poetry, as well as several writers from Weaverville, NC. He also talks about works by Appalachian writers such as Charles Frazier, Terry Roberts, Grace Lumpkin, John Ehle, Robert Morgan, John Parris, and Wilma Dykeman.
This video was filmed in the Hart’s personal library prior to donating the collection to UNC Asheville’s Special Collections. The books in the Bill and Alice Hart Collection are shelved in the same order as in the Hart’s marvelous personal library.
