In this video Bill Hart describes highlights from the sixth bookshelf in his personal library, where he discusses books about the Appalachian Trail.
Hart talks about his hiking experiences on the Appalachian Trail, as well as books about the AT and hiking, including the Appalachian Trail Data Books, early trail guides, and a 1937 edition of the Appalachian Trail Guide, which was the first guide to document the trail from the Virginia border south.
This video was filmed in the Hart’s personal library prior to donating the collection to UNC Asheville’s Special Collections. The books in the Bill and Alice Hart Collection are shelved in the same order as in the Hart’s marvelous personal library.
