Annotated Video Tour: Bookshelf 11 from the Bill and Alice Hart Collection

In this video Bill Hart describes highlights from the eleventh bookshelf in his personal library, where he talks about his natural history collection as well as histories of Western North Carolina counties

Hart discusses several books on wildflowers and lichens, as well as important aspects of the county histories in the collection, including a discussion of the colorful Jackson County native John R. Brinkley, known for his questionable medical practices as well as being a pioneer of Mexican “Border Radio.”

This video was filmed in the Hart’s personal library prior to donating the collection to UNC Asheville’s Special Collections. The books in the Bill and Alice Hart Collection are shelved in the same order as in the Hart’s marvelous personal library.
