Abstract
The Art Loeb Trail is a 30.1 mile trail that traverses four peaks over 6,000 feet, six miles of ridgeline hiking and 9,000 feet of elevation gain. Originally the area was part of the Cherokee Nation and was heavily logged in the early part of the 20th century. The Art Loeb Trail was dedicated on November 9, 1969. The trail was named after Arthur Loeb, who was a conservationist, industrialist, and hiker who deeply loved the Appalachian Mountains and passed away on December 5th, 1968. Arthur was a Brevard local and a member of the Carolina Mountain Club.
